After reading The One Minute Millionaire at the age of 21, the story of Paul Hartunian and his 'selling the brooklyn bridge' venture really was an "AHA" moment for me (I am currently 24).
I then began to look around Australia for how I could do a similar venture at home - at the same time Australia's version of 'Yankee Stadium' - The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) was getting redeveloped. I was able to rescue from the wrecking company a bunch of timber which was once the stadium's seating, along with some very famous MCG crested carpet which lay in the exclusive members dining room.
I began to turn these into a series of memorabilia which I sold via my website - certificates like Hartunian did, along with framed pieces of the crested carpet and a photo of the “G.”
A press release with the heading “21 year old sells MCG for under $500" generated tons of free media coverage throughout the country for me.
Throughout the entire venture, I donated 10% of all gross proceeds to the E.J. Whitten Foundation- EJ Whitten was Australia's greatest footballer who died of prostate cancer. This generated thousands of dollars revenue for them.
With the profits I made from the 'Selling the MCG' venture, I bought my first piece of real estate, which I renovated and sold to double the cash i put into the deal.
I now have a book of my own being published by John Wiley and Sons (Australia's biggest publisher) which will be released in November 2006, titled, 'How To Turn Your Million Dollar Idea into A Reality'. It's a hands-on guide that teaches how to take your idea from imagination to implementation.
My website is currently being grown into Australia's #1 resource for products and seminars (which I am developing) that help people turn their own million dollar idea into a reality. My first seminar is scheduled for Feb. 17, 2007.
I have really embraced Robert's lessons and stories - It has been a very rewarding and profitable experience, which I am so glad I can now share through my new book.
Cheers,
